Juggling Suns

Mystic Hot Springs, Monroe UT

Tuesday 9/7/04 - Day 5

Once it again it was nice to have a second night, we got to sleep instead of hitting the road!  We got to spend a relaxing day in another beautiful, peaceful place.

For the second night, the band decided to play 3 short sets in an attempt to keep their energy up and shake things up a bit.  The first set consisted of newer material including 3 parts of Art Of The Bell with Tim's Road I'm Traveling sandwiched in there along with his latest Ups and Downs and Mark's Sherman The Yank.

For the second set, Tim invoked the power of the dye and sure enough they started making their magic.  I've got a strong bias towards Tabla Rasa - the song that got me on the Juggling bus years ago and it seemed to propel them into letting loose with some serious jamming.  By the time they launched into Twilight Dance they seemed to be much more relaxed and enjoying themselves more than the previous night.

I have to give Tim some props and say how much I like his new songs!  I've always been a lyrics guy, without something meaningful in a song I usually don't connect unless there's a powerful melodic hook.  There's a lot of heart in his songs and I can certainly relate to traveling a road that never ends or the ups and downs of life.  Add in Mark's leads on these songs and I believe we have some keepers here!

Pattie made the drive from Ouray to Monroe by herself to join us for this last night at Mystic and this was also her first time to hear Andrew on drums.  She also noticed his intensity and agrees with me that he's a great addition to the band.  We both love how you can read the emotion in his face when he's in the moment, laying down a solid foundation for the music.  He tries his best to keep up with Mark and push him even further than you think possible.  I was thrilled to see him fit so comfortably into the Juggling hot seat, its been a long time coming but it finally looks like they have that position filled!

Keep on rockin', our young Jedi drummer!!!
