Juggling Suns Western Tour Book

I never expected to be lucky enough to have a western tour in our very first year since we moved to Ouray.  Naturally I started talking to the band about coming out here as soon as we made the commitment to move, but I was willing to wait awhile for that dream.  Maybe its the magic of the mountains and the Ancients that draws this band here, captures their heart and showers them with renewed energy.   Whatever's at play, we were thrilled to have them and blessed to be a part of this wonderful journey.

Views on the drive out of Ouray and over Red Mountain Pass as I head out to join the band in Sedona.

The San Juan Mountains above Ouray

A few days before I entered Marine Corps boot camp in 1975, I saw my last concert as a civilian - Edgar Winter at the Hershey Arena.  My best friend at the time was an ex-Army Ranger and a musician playing bass in a local garage band.  Ron, like a lot of people thought I was nuts for joining the Marines, a skinny kid like me didn't stand a chance in boot camp.  During that Edgar Winter show, Ron started talking to the roadies and discovered that they were looking for help.  Here was my last chance to save myself, become a roadie and the Marines would never find me!

Alas, I passed on being a roadie, went to boot camp and the rest as they say is history.  No regrets on my part, I might not have had such a wonderful life taking any other path.  Still I sometimes wondered what life on the road as a roadie would have been like, 30 years later I finally got my chance to live that dream with Juggling Suns.
