Juggling Suns

Wild Wild West Casino, Las Vegas, NV

Saturday, 9/4/04 - Day 2

Vegas baby... Juggling finally hits the big time in my tenure following the band!  Thanks to the Las Vegas Jam Band Society, they even got the rock star treatment with complimentary rooms, food, and drinks during the shows.  The weather was perfect, the stage setting was wonderful with the pool and Vegas skyline in sight.  The sound system was phenomenal, creating the best sound of any show I've attended.  All these factors lead to one of the best shows of the tour!

From the very first note of Festival, which opened the show, the band was on fire!  Playing to a good size crowd, on a big stage outside, looking at the Vegas skyline, I could tell this was going to be a completely different show from the previous night's warm-up in Sedona. You could feel the energy buzzing through the audience and see the smiles on the boys, they were about to make magic once again!

Since there was so much space around the pool, the 100+ crowd was dispersed around the sides and near the bar.

Mug and Kim flew out for the Vegas shows and they scored a room overlooking the stage so the Mayor could truly oversee the festivities.  The First Ladies of Juggling were getting their groove on including Azie dancing to her Daddy's sweet guitar!

As always, Mark amazed people with his playing.  There's always moments when he looks like he's been possessed and is channeling some power that makes his hands move at the speed of light.  One of the best moments of the weekend was when between songs, after one particularly hot jam, somebody at the back of the pool area yelled out  - "You guys f***in' rock!"

Everyone knows my love of tie dyes, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to see the stage surrounded by the best tapestries I have ever seen!  I picked my favorite and inquired about buying it as a tour souvenir however they weren't for sale since they were all relics from the former Legends Lounge.  I was told I could contact the artist but their $600+ price range was more than I expected!

Oh yeah, did I mention they rocked all night long!  My highlights of the first set were the Festival opener, PWave!, and the Crimson closer.

It might not look like much of a crowd but this was a big area and people were chilling out on lounge chairs, hanging out by the bar and going back and forth to their rooms.

The second set started with a Cats and Laced dynamic duo which showed there was still lots of energy left in the tank.  One More Time gave the audience the chance to get lost in the music as the boys went deep into the jam.  By the time they got to the Mountain Marlane closer everyone was dancing up front.

The night ended with a sweet Into Tomorrow, reminding us that we would get to do it all over again the next day!
