Pattie's 25th Anniversary Vows

My dearest Bob, it was 25 years ago that we first pledged our commitment to one another, but it seems like just yesterday that I was standing across from you. We have been on what some may call a long strange trip but I have loved you every step of the way. Where there has been cold you have brought warmth, where my life was dark, you have brought light. Today, I am renewing those vows and again pledging my love and life to you. I promise to be there for you, to continue to share laughter in times of joy and wonder, to share tears when sorrow touches our lives, to share our dreams and hopes, to share all that I have and all that I am. I am here to be your supporter, your confidant, and your best friend. I have been blessed for the last 25 years and am thrilled that I get to spend the rest of my life with you. I commit myself eternal to the bond and unique relationship that exists between us, and pledge to keep it alive. Please accept this rose as a token of my love for you.

Bob's 25th Anniversary Vows

Before I make my pledge to Pattie, I want to thank all of our friends and family for being here with us today to celebrate this special occasion. We love you all very much, miss you a bunch when we’re in Colorado and are so happy to be here together today.

Now to Pattie… I hope I can get this right because you told me not to embarrass you which I promise not to do… and I’m not supposed to use song lyrics so I’m not can’t take the easy route and say you‘re my shining star or how sweet it is to be loved by you or the way you do the things you do. You also didn’t want me to make you cry but that only leaves making you laugh which I’m not very good at so please forgive me for any tears that may come.

25 years ago we made a commitment to each other to love each other and spend our lives together. Through those years, we’ve survived our share of hardships to be rewarded with many great adventures. No matter what challenge I threw at you, from skiing 3000 foot peaks to hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, you always accepted the challenge and proved to yourself and me that you could accomplish anything. We became best friends by doing everything together and sharing our live completely.

You taught me so many things over the years… to relax and not take things so seriously, to let go of things I can’t control and most importantly how to love and be loved, You cared for me and anyone else who needed your healing touch. Your love for life, me, our family and all our friends has always been an inspiration.

If you’ll have me for another 25 years or more, I promise to continue to live my life to make you happy, snuggle with you each night, comfort you when you’re troubled and dance with you when the music plays. I will do all that I can to make the rest of our lives together as joyful and exciting as the past. I will continue to spend my days trying to make all your dreams come as you have done for me and loving you with all of my heart for the rest of my life.
