The Coast

Up on the coast
High in the sun
I was looking at you
And you were having fun
So we can't go back
To where it had begun
But I think that a circle
Is never really done
Out in the rain
?I stepped by a trailer?
Out past the cliffs
I thought I saw a sailor
And I thought he said to me
You're out on the coast
And up in the rain
It ain't gonna stop
Nothing left to say
Sometimes you feel the pain

Out in a field
The sun in your face
The wagon was loaded
You were reaching for your ace
Up your sleeve or not
It didn't really matter
'cause when you pulled the trigger
The whole world seemed to shatter
In a field of red
I saw your innocence
The fruit was for free
But the time's already spent
And I thought you didn't care
Could have stayed there for hours
Out in the distance
Running for the towers
Up on the coast
It dosen't really matter

Up on the coast
High in the sun
We come and we go
We all play that game
Sometimes I forget
Exactly where i've been
So it's you and I
Up there again
I saw you as an angel
Who didn't get her wings
So instead of flight
All you do is sing
And I thought you sang to me
I hadn't had enough
But it made me feel so good
I had to write it down
Up on the coast
High in the sun
