Brooks Camp - Bears

Sometimes we live in your country and visit your home...'

After breakfast on our last morning at the lodge, I took a walk out to the waterfront and had my closest encounter with a bear as I came out of the camp and looked to my right. I backed up the trail and captured this picture as he casually strolled up the beach.

Seeing these bears so close was definitely worth the expen$e of this 3 day tour. Pattie and I both agree that we would come back here again and even stay longer next time.

This bear was named Otis according to the biologist and he had a big appetite. Watching the bears eat was another fascinating aspect of them as they used their front paws to manipulate the meat and they pulled the skin off in strips.

Here's a video clip of Otis eating a salmon. If you listen closely, you can hear his bone crunching bites!
