Glaciers - Kenai Fjords National Park

'From the land of the midnight sun where the ice blue roses grow...'
[So Many Roads - Grateful Dead]

The largest glacier in Kenai Fjords is called Bear Glacier and has ice over 1000 feet thick! We only passed by it from a distance because the water at its base wasn't deep enough for boats to get close.

The Aialik Glacier was the main attraction for our cruise. It is over a mile wide at the water front. From this distance, it didn't look that big.

The closer we got the more impressive it appeared and the more ice chunks we saw floating in the water.
